Johanna Hamburger received her B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Colorado State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2009. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law. During law school, she clerked with Earthjustice, the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, Sierra Club, and Environmental Defense Fund. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hamburger served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. She handled all aspects of defensive and affirmative civil litigation, including motions practice, discovery, settlement, trial, and appeals. As an associate at Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, LLC, she practices across the firm’s specialties in water rights, water quality, litigation, environmental law, permitting, and regulatory compliance. She represents clients in judicial and administrative proceedings relating to the establishment, protection, and modification of water rights. Ms. Hamburger is licensed to practice in Colorado, and has appeared as counsel in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, and Colorado state courts.
